Animal Instinct: 2017's Most Popular Dog Names Have a Major Human Influence

The two names are the most popular for dogs for 2017, according to website Rover.com.
The site, the nation's largest network of pet sitters and dog walkers, harnessed data from thousands of dog owners. What it found is that human names come out on top.
But there are also some other influences when it comes to choosing a name for your favorite fuzzy buddy.
The site said pop culture plays a big factor. Fifty-three percent of dog owners have named their pet after a movie, TV or book character or celebrity.
Barb and Eleven have grown in popularity 182 percent and 166 percent, respectively. Both are character names in the Netflix series "Stranger Things."
"Star Wars"-themed names, like Rey and Leia, grew 70 percent.
Other big influencers include the Internet and places.
