Amtrak Downeaster hits and kills pedestrian in Plaistow


PLAISTOW - A person has been hit and killed by the Amtrak Downeaster.

Police confirmed Friday that the train hit someone in Plaistow and that officers have been dispatched to the scene.

Plaistow Fire Chief John H. McArdle said it hit the person behind the Home Depot at 58 Plaistow Road.

B&M Railroad police are in charge of the investigation.

The train was traveling from Brunswick, Maine, to Boston's North Station

The priority alert said:
"Train 684 was involved in an unexpected incident that will cause a significant delay to its arrival into Boston. Anticipated delay is approximately 2 hours.

"Train 685, 686 and 687 are anticipated to be delayed as well. This alert will be updated as information is available."
