American Heart Association looking to make you heart healthy

MANCHESTER - The American Heart Association is seeking applications for the fourth round of the Go Red BetterU Makeover Challenge.

The 13-week program features nutrition and fitness programs focused on attaining a healthier heart through step-by-step guidance, challenges and goals. Organizers say heart disease is the number one killer of women in America and the BetterU Challenge is a great way to encourage women to live a healthier lifestyle.

Selected applicants are expected to complete the 13-week heart makeover and will receive a free membership to the Executive Health and Sports Center. Prior to starting the challenge, each participant takes part in a wellness screening to measure height, weight, blood pressure and body mass index. They are then screened again at the end of the 13 weeks.

The BetterU Challenge application is available online at and the deadline is June 19.
