American Ambulance in Somersworth receives CASS accreditation

SOMERSWORTH - Less than 2% of ambulance services are accredited across the country. Now, New Hampshire has one right on the Seacoast.

CASS accreditation is the highest standard of best practice in emergency services and American Ambulance in Somersworth has accomplished that. For the Somersworth community, it means having the best care possible.

"It allows for an organization from the outside to come in and look at our organization and actually make sure that we are who we say we are, from safety to quality management processes, to know that we are providing the best care that the Somersworth residents can receive," said American Ambulance Operations Manager, Scott Schuler.

The ambulance company celebrated the accomplishment with a small gathering Tuesday. Members of the community joined paramedics and local politicians to celebrate the accreditation. American Ambulance is the only emergency service in the seacoast with a CASS accreditation. Just last week, the emergency service helped save six lives after administering the anti-heroin drug, Narcan.
