Alton man hospitalized with life-threatening injuries in Barnstead crash


BARNSTEAD - An Alton man suffered life-threatening injuries in a two-car crash on Route 28 Tuesday.

Thomas Garrity, 51, of Alton, was ejected from a van after it collided with a Chevy Impala driven by Brian McKay, 43, of Pittsfield, at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said. McKay sustained minor injuries in the crash.

Police said McKay's Impala was headed northbound when it crossed the center lane and into the path of Garrity's GMC van which was headed southbound, resulting in a side impact collision.

Traffic was shut down for five hours as the crash was investigated by local and state police.
