Almost 30 years later, 1988 Nashua murder victim's family speaks

NASHUA - Brenda Warner and her girlfriend Charlene Ranstrom lived in a small apartment in Nashua in 1988 when they were murdered.

“They were so happy together, and those men committed a heinous crime,” said Brenda’s oldest brother, Leslie Warner.

David Caplin was back in court Wednesday after being extradited from Canada. He has been charged in the decades old murder. Leslie was not in the courtroom but will be following the case.

“I accept it but I am very hopeful that these guys will go to jail for the rest of their lives,” said Warner.

This is only the first step in what could lead to a trial in the months to come. A probable cause hearing has been set for May 19 for Caplin.

The Attorney General’s office said that they are working with officials in Canada to bring Anthony Barneby back in U.S custody. The Canadian’s call it a ‘surrender order’ and one has been has issued for Barneby.
