Allenstown police seeking 'brazen burglar' caught on home surveillance

ALLENSTOWN - Police are asking for the public's help identifying what they're calling a 'brazen burglar.'

Home surveillance shows a man wearing a dark mask and blue plastic gloves enter the front door of a School St. home, which was occupied at the time.

"It looks like a lone ranger mask that basically covers the top of his face," said Lt. Michael Stark.

The burglary happened at about 2 a.m. Monday morning.

"Our concern is how brazen this is because obviously it's a lit house, there's a car in the driveway and he just walks right in," Lt. Stark said.

The home owners daughter, who did not want to be identified, said her two young nieces were sleeping on a couch just feet away from the burglar. The man can be seen entering the home through a door, scanning the inside and then making off with a purse.

Police said units responded quickly and were able to recover the purse.

The man seen in the video has not been taken into custody.

Allenstown police are reminding residents to take extra precautions by simply locking their doors.
