Alexandria community honors 11-month-old who would have turned one-year-old Monday

ALEXANDRIA - The town of Alexandria, N.H. in mourning Monday night after learning the details of the death of 11-month-old SJ.

Friends and family and those sadden by the death of Shawn Sylvester gather on the Alexandria common for a vigil on Monday night.

The Attorney General ruled the child’s death a homicide but has yet to make an arrest connected to the child’s death.

Dawn Jones, organized the event, to have songs shared and prayers exchanged for the child. Monday would have been SJ’s first birthday.

Jones told NH1 News that she did not know the child but is close with his paternal grandparents.

“I’m a mother, I’m a grandmother too. When I heard the news my heart just broke. We’re a small community and we’re sticking together,” said Jones.
