Alcohol, ice conditions may have been factors in Amherst ATV accident

AMHERST - Alcohol, warmer temperatures and soft ice may have been responsible for a ATV accident Saturday evening on Baboosic Lake.

Christine Fox, 37, of Amherst, had been riding on the lake with two other riders when she fell off her machine. New Hampshire Fish and Game Conservation Officers responded to the scene.

Witnesses said Fox was riding straight toward her residence at a moderate speed when she fell. The ice had become soft on the majority of the lake because of recent warm weather. When Fox’s machine hit some of this softer ice, it caused her to slow down quickly, and she fell off.

Fox was transported to the hospital by Amherst Fire Rescue and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The accident investigation is continuing; both conservation officers say the ice condition and alcohol appear to be factors in the case.
