Airliner returns to Long Beach with emergency

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) A JetBlue airliner has returned to the airport in Long Beach, California, after the crew declared an emergency due to a problem with one of its two engines shortly after takeoff for Austin, Texas.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says Flight 1416 landed at 9:30 a.m. Thursday and passengers left the aircraft using emergency slides. Gregor says he has no information on whether there were any injuries during the evacuation.
According to the tracking website FlightAware, the Airbus A320 took off at 9:17 a.m. and landed at 9:30 a.m.
Long Beach is on the south Los Angeles County coast.
