Air quality warnings issued for NH as hot, humid weather descends on the region

The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services has issued air quality warnings for most of the state as a period of oppressive heat arrives for the start of the workweek.

Moderate ozone warnings have been issued for Belknap, Carroll, Cheshire, Coos, Grafton Hillsborough, Strafford, Sullivan and Merrimack counties for Monday.

Rockingham and seacoast areas, as well as portions of the state at higher elevations, have been issued an "unhealthy for sensitive people" warning.

Temperatures climbed over the weekend and gave a taste of what is to come for the beginning of the week as much of the region is expected to hit the mid 90s.

Hazy, hot and humid is on tap through Tuesday, when cooler air in eastern Canada is scheduled to move south to provide mid-week relief.
