AHL expected to outline plans to move Manchester Monarchs to California


SAN JOSE, CA - The American Hockey League (AHL) is expected to make a major announcement today for the upcoming 2015-2016 season. The press conference will take place at the SAP Center in San Jose, California at 3:30 EST.

According to the Union Leader, the AHL is expected to announce a deal that would move five AHL teams including the Manchester Monarchs to the West Coast. In exchange the Ontario Reign of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) would move to the Queen City.

Friday, the Manchester Monarchs will host a press conference at the Verizon Wireless Arena at 3 pm to discuss the plans to move.

The ECHL is a division lower than the AHL.
