Agitated woman accused of biting another woman riding in Manchester police van

MANCHESTER - An agitated and handcuffed woman allegedly bit another woman when they were both being transported in the back of a police van Wednesday night.

According to police, they were bringing one woman accused of shoplifting to the station when they stopped to pick up a second woman who was allegedly swearing at people inside the Seven Days Market on Union Street. Police say she appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs. When she continued yelling and refused to leave the area, police took her into custody.

Police say she continued to act aggressively inside the transport van and allegedly bit the other woman on her left shoulder.

Once at the the station, the first woman, Tamara Giuffrida, 44, of Manchester was treated for the injury and released on a summons with a court date of Nov. 18.

The second woman, Pamela Singh, 44, also of Manchester, was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and assault by a prisoner. She was scheduled to appear in court today.
