AG takes over prosecution of Portsmouth heroin overdose case

PORTSMOUTH - The NH attorney general has taken over the prosecution of Amanda Burgess, the woman who allegedly sold heroin to a friend and watched as he died from an overdose.

According to SeacoastOnline, Associate Attorney General Jane Young said, "with heroin being such an epidemic in this state, we're taking an active role."

Police said Burgess allegedly sold the victim heroin then texted her mother saying, "I killed sum one."

A strong social media presence helped in the capture of Burgess last month in Maine.
