CONCORD — Attorney General Gordon J. MacDonald announced a New Hampshire woman has been in sentenced for financially exploiting an elderly adult.

Deborah Walsh, 59, of Manchester, was sentenced on Friday in Hillsborough Superior Court, she was ordered to serve 12 months at the house of corrections with 11 months deferred for 1 year.

The Union Leader reported that Walsh stole a whopping $22,700.00 from her 84-year-old disabled father. Walsh acted as her father's power of attorney back in 2015, managing his money and paying his bills.

During this time, the Hudson police say Walsh wrote herself 8 checks on her father’s bank account and forged his signature each time.

The Attorney General is now making provisions so that elderly residents can protect themselves against scams.
