After 2 partial roof collapses, contractors called to Portsmouth complex

PORTSMOUTH - Contractors were brought in to remove snow from multiple buildings at the Patriots Park apartment complex after two of them suffered partial roof collapses over the weekend.

The complex, which consists of 8 buildings containing 24 units each, is located on Freedom Circle off Rte. 1 in Portsmouth.

The partial collapses occurred in the middle of a weekend blizzard.

"As a precaution they evacuated all the buildings, a safety precaution, which was the right thing to do," said resident Wendy Caswell. "They're doing the best they can, trying to resolve the situation."

All tenants have received a hotel room or are staying with family until building inspectors and fire officials declare the buildings safe.

No word on how long it will take to repair the roofs on the two buildings that suffered partial collapses.

Patriots Park management declined comment to NH1 News.
