After cool stretch, warmer weather in sight: 70s, 80s possible next week

NH1 Meteorologist

Temperatures eight of the first 11 days in May have been below average in Concord. The thermometer hasn't hit the 70 degree mark since April 29; it's been a dreary pattern with limited sunshine and very cool weather.

However, there are growing signs the jetstream will flip next week, sending summer warmth in our direction.

After a rainstorm moves through this weekend with downpours of heavy rain, the 'block' in the pattern responsible for this stagnant pattern will start to break down.

Monday and Tuesday will be transition days, with below to near normal temperatures and a gusty breeze.

By Wednesday, a ridge of high pressure will likely become established along the east coast, transporting warmer weather into the northeast and New England.

This is a kind of pattern that favors high temperatures in the 70s and possibly 80s in the Granite State.

How long it lasts is in question, but at least the middle to end of next week looks to feature much warmer weather than we've been used to.
