Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler rocks classics, new country stuff at LaconiaFest

LACONIA - It's the middle of the 93rd annual Motorcycle Week but Wednesday night was expected to draw the biggest crowd.

New event LaconiaFest brought a must-see headline act - Steven Tyler of Aerosmith - to the stage on its fifth night.

"I've been coming for 57 years and I have two sons who have motorcycles and they come," said Evelyn Davis of Danbury.

It's one of the most famous New Hampshire traditions, attracting people from across the state and all over the country.

"It's a tight knit group of people; everybody is as nice as can be," said Mason Keck, a North Carolina resident. "It seems like you see people who have been coming for 50 years."

Motorcycle Week brings people together to enjoy the Lakes Region, the food, the flashy motorcycles and now - the music.

The announcement of Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famer Steven Tyler headlining the event was quite the pleasant surprise.

"I was pretty shocked that he was going to be here," said Robin Dixon, of Londonderry.

Tyler, though, isn't new to the Granite State.

"He's a local boy; he's got a place in Sunapee, that's not too far," Carol Huber, of Bristol, said. "He's an all around nice guy."

The artist opening for him said this will be a career highlight for her.

Laura Comfort came all the way from London for this gig, and she's soaking it all in.

"(I had) rehearsal last night at the tavern," said Comfort. "I'm getting to meet a lot of local people. It's just so great. Everybody is so great, so nice, I love it here."

Tyler sang some of his contemporary, country songs, but mostly sang classics from his hit band, Aerosmith, opening with "Sweet Emotion."
