BELMONT - A distraught mother who discovered her infant's headstone was heavily marked with spray paint is getting help from a complete stranger.
Shawna Arnold visited her daughter's grave Monday and immediately reported the issue to police.
The headstone of three-week-old Katie Ann Hebert is the only one that was spray painted, Belmont Police said.
After the story aired earlier this week a woman from Massachusetts who works with headstones and wants to remain anonymous called the police department and offered her services for free.
"I'm just so grateful and thankful that someone could be that kind-hearted and take time out of her schedule and her life and her kids to help my family and my kids," Arnold said.
It's unclear when the grave will be repaired. In the meantime, police are asking for the public's help in finding the person or persons responsible.
Belmont Police can be reached at 603-267-8350. Tips can be anonymous.
