Accused bank robber scheduled to appear in court Thursday

DOVER - A man accused of robbing a TD Bank in Dover on Nov. 20 has been indicted by a grand jury.

James Whinnem, 34, who is currently being held at the Strafford County jail, is charged with one count of robbery but is facing an extended term on the felony.

Whinnem is being held on $20,000 cash bail.

Whinnem also is facing charges in a similar robbery at a TD Bank in Manchester on Nov. 18.

Whinnem was arrested in December after a stolen car he was riding in was stopped for multiple offenses, police said.

Whinnem was a passenger in the car.

If convicted on the Dover robbery charge he faces 10-30 years in prison. He is scheduled to appear in Strafford County Superior Court on Thursday at 9 a.m.
