Accident shuts down I-95, police say alcohol main factor
NORTH HAMPTON - Police arrested an Exeter woman and charged her with driving while intoxicated after she crashed her car near the Hampton tolls, closing down Interstate 95 for half an hour.
Police said Meritel Saintil, 32 of Exeter, was driving her Ford Taurus north of the Hampton Tolls when she drove into a bunker that separates toll lanes from travel lanes.
Police said the front of the car had heavy damage and the air bag had gone off. The car was towed from the scene, and Saintil was transported to Exeter Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
Police said Saintil will be arraigned in the 10th Circuit Court Division in Seabrook on June 4 at 8 a.m.
