Abrupt gym closure leaves residents, building owners in Keene confused

KEENE — An abrupt business closure has left building owners confused, and customers feeling cheated.

Patrons of Links Fitness, a gym on Marlboro say they were tricked into paying monthly membership fees for October before a sign appeared on Friday announcing the gym's closure and reading: “Thank you for your patronage and truly sorry for any inconvenience," reports the Keene Sentinel. The gym was accepting new memberships as late as Sept. 23.

The gym's website and Facebook page have been taken offline, and all calls and emails to the facility went unanswered.

Building owners Bob and Mary Jane Rountree said the only notice they got was a brief email from the owner, Julie McNamee, announcing her intent to close.

The Rountrees have changed the locks on the buildings while the situation is being investigated.
