PORTSMOUTH - Aaron Goodwin has been fired from the Portsmouth Police Department, effective immediately.
Portsmouth Police Chief Stephen DuBois said the move was made with full support of the Portsmouth Police Commission after the findings of the Roberts Report.
"This termination is only one of many changes that we have made and will continue to make as we seek to close what has been an unfortunate chapter in the otherwise proud history of the Portsmouth Police Department," DuBois said.
Goodwin was accused of inappropriately using his influence over Geraldine Webber - a 92-year-old woman he befriended before she died - to collect a $2 million inheritance.
The report found Goodwin violated the department's code of ethics and his supervisors gave him bad advice when he took the inheritance from Webber.
