A Concord high graduate will compete in the 2016 Rio olympics

CONCORD — A 2005 Concord High graduate will be participating in the Rio Olympics.

Guor Miading Maker collapsed in a marathon in Australia in early July, leaving him doubtful of his Olympic future.

On Thursday, Maker posted on Facebook that he will be lining up with the "best of the best" to compete in the marathon portion of the summer Olympics this year, according to the Concord Monitor.

Maker will represent South Sudan.

The 2016 Rio Olympics will begin on August 5 and go through till the 21.
