A-C Creamery recalls Manila Sky Purple Yumm ice cream for Listeria concerns

A-C Creamery has recalled it's 16 ounce packages of Manila Sky Purple Yumm ice cream due to a possible Listeria contamination.

Listeria monocytogenes is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The product comes in a 16-ounce, paper cup marked with an expiration date of Mar 06, 2018 stamped on the bottom.

The ice cream was sold to retailers nationwide. Consumers should return the product to the place of purchase for a refund.

No illness has been reported at this time.
