PLAISTOW (AP) — An 81-year-old nun has been accused of getting in a car accident in a department store parking lot and then driving away.
According to the Eagle Tribune, Sister Rachel Dumont has been charged with conduct after an accident which is punishable by up to a year in jail upon conviction.
Police said Dumont hit a car Dec. 16 in a Kohl's store parking lot, and when the driver of the other car got out to exchange information she took off.
The nun later turned herself in to police, and has been released on bail with an arraignment scheduled for April 4.
