8 a.m.: Power outages of PSNH cleared; high winds remain threat

Power was restored by 8 a.m. to nearly 700 customers in the Lakes Region according to Public Service Company of New Hampshire.

There were still a handful of homes reported without service.

PSNH spokesman Martin Murray said high winds are what concern utility officials most. That's because they are the most likely cause of an outage in a blizzard. In addition, once winds peak above 30 miles per hour, it's not safe for utility crews to be working overhead in bucket trucks, Murray said.

"If the winds pick up a lot, we could be in trouble but so far so good,'' Murray said.
