7-foot boa constrictor on the loose on the Seacoast after it escapes cage

KITTERY, Maine — Residents have been asked to be on the look out for a pet snake that has gone missing.

The snake, animal control officer Bill Hackett has assured the public, is not poisonous, but is capable of biting, according to Seacoast Online.

The pet is a Columbian red tail boa constrictor estimated to be about 7 feet long that has been missing since Monday.

It is believed that the snake escaped from a wire cage while its tank was being cleaned. It will likely seek out warm places.

This is not the same snake, police believe as the one that left a skin in Westbrook, Maine.
