6 more arrested in drug sweep, total now at 66 in 7 weeks in Nashua
NASHUA - The police's ongoing drug sweep continued this week, this time nabbing six more people suspected of being involved with drugs in the Queen City.
Five of the six were charged with being involved in the sales of drugs, and all six arrests involved fentanyl, cocaine, or crack cocaine.
One person is currently in a hospital after police said he swallowed an illegal substance as officers made contact with him, and two others are facing additional child endangerment charges after police said they had a 5-year-old boy in the backseat of a car during a drug deal.
The sweep was part of an ongoing Combined Drug Impact Initiative by the Nashua Police Department’s Narcotics Intelligence Division.
In a little less than 2 months, the initiative has netted the arrests of 66 total people, including 16 last week. Take a look at that video above.
Carlos Gonzalez, 57, of Nashua was charged with three counts of sale of a controlled drug, cocaine. He is currently at a local hospital where he is being treated for swallowing what is believed to be an illegal substance while officers made contact with him at his home. Gonzalez will be arraigned on Thursday.
Ricardo Velazquez, 32, of Nashua was charged with one count of sale of a controlled drug, fentanyl and endangering the welfare of a child. He is being held on $15,000 pending his arraignment on Thursday. Velasquez was the passenger in a car that was driven by his girlfriend, Samantha Shedmock. The sale of fentanyl was done inside the car with Velazquez and Shedmock's 5-year-old child in the backseat.
Samantha Shedmock, 28, of Nashua was charged with on count of criminal liability for the sale of a controlled drug, fentanyl, one count of the possession of a controlled drug, fentanyl, and endangering the welfare of a child. She is being held on $10,000 pending her Friday arraignment.
Lawrence Nelson, 31, of Nashua was charged with one count of criminal solicitation to the sale of a controlled drug, crack cocaine. He is being held on $10,000 cash bail pending his arraignment on Friday.
Randy Smith, 56, of Nashua was charged with one count of sale of a controlled drug, crack cocaine, and one count of possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute, crack cocaine. Smith was in possession of 7 grams of powder cocaine and 2 grams of crack cocaine. He is being held on $50,000 until he is arraigned on Friday.
Angela Semons, 37, of Nashua was charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug, crack cocaine. He was released on $5,000 personal recognizance bail.
