HAMPTON- A 5-year-old Hampton boy called 911 and told dispatchers his father had "passed out." When emergency crews arrived they found evidence of drug-use and contacted Hampton Police.
32-year-old John Burns of 12 M St. was arrested and charged with possession of heroin and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police said Burns has a pre-existing medical condition, and his son thought that was why he was passed out. Police said Burns had overdosed on heroin.
At the time of the arrest, the young boy went to stay with a family friend.
Police said it's up to the state to decide if the boy should be removed from Burns' custody.
