48 people rescued from Cannon Mountain ski lifts after brake malfunction

NH1.com

It was a scary few hours on Sunday afternoon.

Two aerial trams at the Cannon Mountain Ski Area got stuck, stranding dozens of people more than 40 feet in the air.

All 48 people were eventually evacuated, having to repel down to safety.

Officials say a brake system malfunction was to blame - not the cold temperatures.

Cannon said it will reopen on Monday regardless of whether or not the brake system gets fixed since there are other lifts at the resort.

No one was injured.
