44 people rescued by Coast Guard crews off Cape Cod beach
Cape Cod — Coast Guard crews rescue 44 people off the coast of Cape Cod.
According to U.S. Coast Guard officials, 44 people walked out onto the breakwall in Provincetown before the unusually high tide rolled in.
Six of the people were in the water; four had fallen in while two others jumped in to try and help them, Provincetown Harbormaster reports.
Coast Guard officials say that a good Samaritan called in the observation of a large group stranded on the breakwall around 1:50 p.m.
Due to shallow depths around the breakwall, rescue crews say they were forced to pull people out of the water with smaller boats provided by the harbormaster and TowBoatUS.
Reports show that all 44 people were rescued from the once scenic footpath, some with minor injuries.
