4 reports of clowns in Goffstown; teen says clown scared her with shovel and tripped her

GOFFSTOWN — Creepy clowns galore.

Clowns took to the downtown area in Goffstown Monday night as thousands of people celebrated Halloween.

A group of four clowns allegedly took to the intersection at Elm Street and Maple Avenue - about a tenth of a mile away - as a part of an entertainment stunt to scare pedestrians roaming about, police say.

One of the clowns in the group apparently was scraping his shovel on the ground to make scary noises, which scared a group of teenage girls who were lingering around them.

One of the girls apparently went to run away, and was allegedly tripped by one of the clowns. The clown told police that the teen got scared, ran away, and tripped while she was running.

Police say they received at least four reports of clown sightings throughout the town on Monday night.

This incident is still under investigation, if you have any information about the incident please call the Goffstown Police Department at (603) 497-4858.
