4 injured in 2-vehicle collision on the ice of Contoocook Lake in Rindge

RINDGE - A collision involving two vehicles on the ice of Lake Contoocook sent four people to the hospital early Sunday morning.

Conservation officers say they were called to the lake around 12:45 a.m. where a pickup truck driven by 19-year-old Brendon Olson, of Greenville, and a Toyota Corolla driven by Tanner Munroe, also 19, of Rindge, had collided. Munroe and his three passengers were taken to the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough with minor injuries. Both vehicles were heavily damaged.

The accident remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call Fish and Game conservation officers through the Cheshire County dispatch office at 355-2000 or the Fish and Game dispatch office at 271-3361.

Conservation officers are urging people to use caution when operating a vehicle on the ice and check the thickness of ice before driving onto any body of water.
