LACONIA — The New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (DES) has posted a fecal matter advisory at Weirs Beach for the third time this summer, yielding a negative impact on the number of beachgoers and, in turn, local businesses.
DES pointed to the summer’s extremely dry weather as a major contributing factor to the increased levels of bacteria at the beach, according to the Concord Monitor.
Seasonal businesses like the Weathervane’s Lobster in the Rough told the Monitor they’ve seen a decrease in customer volume since the warnings were posted.
