35 animals seized from Derry residence after complaints of cruelty

DERRY - Derry Animal Control and Derry police seized 35 animals from a house on McKinley Avenue on Friday.

According to Derry police, a malnourished horse, 17 chickens, three dogs, six cats, six birds, a guinea pig and an iguana were taken from the home.

All of the animals were living in the house except for the horse and chickens.

The owners of the animals voluntarily surrendered the animals to the SPCA.

No charges have been filed and Derry police continue to investigate the situation.
