3 UNH players sign with teams after NFL Draft comes and goes


The NFL draft has come and gone, and no UNH football player was selected. A few wildcats were hoping to hear their named called on ESPN, three players will have part of their dream come true.

They were signed as undrafted rookie free agents after the draft was over.

The first two signing with the New Orleans Saints. UNH star wide receiver R.J. Harris had a terrific season for the Wildcats, and quite the collegiate football career. Harris tallied 310 catches for 4,328 yards and 36 touchdowns.

Tight End Harold Spears also signing with the New Orleans Saints. In his career with the Wildcats, he racked up 111 catches for 1,639 yards along with 12 touchdowns.

The third Wildcat to sign with a team this season was Mike Coccia, signing with UNH alum head coach Chip Kelly and the Philadelphia Eagles. He started all 14 games at Center this season on an offensive line that helped lead the team to become the second highest scoring offense in the Colonial Athletic Conference at 36 points per game.

Currently in the NFL, two teams have Wildcat alumni on their roster. The Buffalo Bills with Corey Graham and the Atlanta Falcons with Jared Smith.
We also can’t forget about Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly, who graduated from the University of New Hampshire back in 1990.
