3 seriously injured in 2-car crash in Pelham near the state line


PELHAM - Two drivers and one passenger were seriously injured in a two-car crash on Bridge Street near the Massachusetts state line on Sunday afternoon.

According to police, a red Nissan Altima was traveling north and had been turning into the entrance of the Tobacco Junction convenience store when it was hit head-on by a Hyundai sedan heading south.

The 34-year-old driver of the Nissan suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Lowell General Hospital and later airlifted to a Boston hospital because of the severity of her injuries.

The 69-year-old driver of of the Hyundai and her 20-year-old granddaughter also suffered serious injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals. A 1-year-old child who was in a car seat in the back seat was not injured.

Bridge Street was closed for about two hours while police conducted their investigation, The accident remains under investigation and the identity of those involved are being withheld pending notifications to family.
