3 sent to hospital after violent 3-car crash on Route 101 in Bedford


BEDFORD — Route 101 was closed for a over an hour Friday after a serious car crash.

Authorities responded to a three-car crash on Route 101 in Bedford at about 11:16 a.m. Friday.

The three injured in the crash - whose names have not yet been released - were taken to the hospital and treated for serious, but not life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses told police they saw a driver - traveling at a high rate of speed - move into the oncoming lane to pass other cars and veer into the path of an oncoming vehicle.

The oncoming vehicle was hit which sent it off the road into trees.

After that, the other car was crashing head-on with a third vehicle, witnesses told police.

The crash, which caused serious traffic delays, remains under investigation.
