After learning of the Brussels attacks, NH1 News immediately reached out to New Hampshire and local universities to see if any Granite Staters were affected in the wake of the attacks.
“We have two students studying there, both are OK. We are also aware of one other student visiting in the area who is OK.”
We were able to make contact with Junior Danielle Lewis who was able to tell us about her experience.
Catch the interview with her tonight at 5 on NH1 News on WBIN-TV and NH1.com/live-streaming
“Jenna, I learned we do not have students in Belgium, either studying, or – to our knowledge – traveling at this time. We do have students in Austria, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.”
Northeastern has confirmed that all five students currently in Brussels, Belgium, are safe and well.”
Even a group from Allagash Brewery in Maine tweeted of their safety
“Crazy end to trip - events at the airport occurred 5 minutes before we arrived - All @AllagashBrewing crew are safe, headed out of Brussels” said Jason Perkins of Allagash Brewery.
"Six Allagash Brewing Company employees, including founder Rob Tod and brewmaster Jason Perkins, were in Belgium today concluding a business trip (as part of a group of ten total employees) that celebrates employees who have spent five years with the brewery. Thankfully, everyone on the trip is okay and unharmed, and making arrangements to leave Europe. Now, our thoughts are with the people of Brussels and Belgium. This is a very sad day for a city and country that means so much to us."
NH1 News will have much more coverage of the local connection of the Brussel attacks starting at 5pm on NH1 News.
