3-car crash blamed on driver who ran red light outside the Hudson Mall

HUDSON - A Merrimack man accused of running a red light in front of the Hudson Mall is blamed for an accident that involved three vehicles on Sunday morning and tied up traffic for about an hour.

Police say Brian Carter, 22, was driving north on Derry Street at a high rate of speed and was in the right-turn lane in front of the mall when he ran his Volvo through a red light.

Police say Carter was hit by a Chevy pickup driven by Robert Coburn, 59, of Nashua, who was turning left from the mall onto Derry Road. The collision sent the Volvo spinning and it hit a Jeep Grand Cherokee stopped at the light in the southbound lane of Derry Street.

The car was driven by Miladys Bowman, 60, of Londonderry. Both she and Carter were taken to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center for evaluation of minor injuries, police said.

Traffic in the area was backed up for about an hour as police investigated the crash and removed the vehicles.

Police say charges are pending.
