25 Year Old NH Entrepreneurs Are Changing The Way You Dine And Here's Why
Whether you're a single or couple looking to dine, this new app can help you explore the restaurant scene in New England.
Date Seat, a mobile app that queries restaurants based on atmosphere and ambiance, recently launched in the Granite State in late June 2017.
New Hampshire natives, Michael Laskowski and Jake Hajec, both 25, created the app to help alleviate the stress of figuring out where to grab drinks, eat for an anniversary, or find a place to dine on a first date.
The app, which launched in the Boston market in August of 2016 for iPhones, allows users to query restaurants based on characteristics such as lighting, interior décor, proximity from other tables/parties, attire, noise level, outdoor seating, and many more. The app is then designed to output a specific set of restaurants tailed to the exact filters of your choice, allowing you to quickly and confidently find a restaurant on a whim.
It's a one-stop-shop to discover and book your reservation all in one place.
This summer, Date Seat expanded their presence from Boston, to New Hampshire and the North Shore of Massachusetts, including Portsmouth NH, Manchester NH, and Newburyport MA - with plans to extend throughout the rest of New England.
Date Seat was released for Android in June 2017, and is still in beta testing (users can still download the app and see live updates). The duo is set to implement their partnership with OpenTable in September 2017, allowing people to book a reservation directly through the Date Seat app.
In addition, Date Seat has partnered with NH1 News Network to help launch their new 'NH1 Dining' section on NH1.com.
“Based on our research, we've found that many people align on the same issues/problems that this app solves. Our app empowers people to take action, all while doing it in a way that adds value for them,” Laskowski said. “Our plans through 2018 include a scalable growth model to acquire over 2,000 restaurants working with us and a projected 15,000+ followers across iPhone and Android devices. Working with NH1 will help us expand quicker throughout the region, and in addition, will help generate content for NH1 that no other news station in the area has. It's a perfect partnership."
Date Seat also provides a section for users to select restaurants based on categories like first date, classy date, casual date, after-work drinks, Sunday Funday (brunch), among others.
“In less than a year, we’ve acquired more than 8500 followers and there’s certainly demand for what we’re doing,” Hajec said. “Strategically, we've managed to bootstrap this ourselves and our company is really starting to grow organically, which is exactly how we planned it."
Date Seat also offers services to restaurants by bringing traffic and revenue to their establishments. Services include push notifications, featured app placement, custom blog posts, social media features, and geo-targeting to those in the region.
If you don’t see your restaurant on their app or website, you can email Mike Laskowski, firstname.lastname@example.org, to be on the app/website in no time!
