24 animals dead after fire engulfs, destroys Temple couple's home

A three-alarm fire destroyed a Temple home Tuesday, killing about two dozen animals.

Several area fire departments from both New Hampshire and Massachusetts fought the blaze at 679 West Road, which was called in by a passing
motorist shortly before 4 p.m.

About 20 goats were in the garage at the time of the fire. The goats, along with 3 dogs and 2 cats, died.

One firefighter was treated for smoke inhalation.

A Wilton ambulance worker carried a bucket full of chicks that were found in the home's basement while firefighters fought the
fire, according to the Union Leader.

The American Red Cross has provided support to the homeowner. Volunteers of the Disaster Action Team met with residents and gave them a place to sleep, food, clothing and other necessities.
