TEWKSBURY, Mass. (AP) — Two dozen people accused of being involved in a cockfighting ring are facing arraignment.

The suspects are scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Lowell District Court. They were arrested Friday at a Tewksbury home.

Two of them are accused of organizing the fight and are charged with cruelty to animals, keeping or promoting an animal fight and other crimes. The other 22 suspects are charged with cruelty to animals and being present at an animal fight.

Armando Maciel, 55, of 81 Front St., Merrimack, was charged with animal cruelty and being present at an animal fight.
