2-pound chihuahua puppy stolen from Portsmouth pet store
PORTSMOUTH— Police are investigating the theft of a two-pound chihuahua puppy.
The male puppy worth $900 was taken from Little Shop of Pets sometime Sunday evening or Monday morning.
Police were called to the scene when workers tried to lure the 3-month-old cream-colored puppy from the little dog house it sleeps in- to discover it was not there.
Owner Paula Burdick explained why she is so concerned about the pup, "If he's not getting the proper nutrition, being that tiny, then anything could happen to him."
Police say the puppy thief could be charged with a class A misdemeanor if caught, but Burdick just wants the dog returned safely.
