2 people rescued after flipping a kayak on NH river in rough waters
THORNTON — Rescue crews called to deploy after two people were tossed from their kayak in New Hampshire.
According to Campton-Thornton Fire Rescue, the call came in around 4 p.m. reporting a kayak had tipped over in rough waters.
The kayakers were floating on the Pemigewassett river in Thornton when they hit a tree that was completely submerged due to recent rains.
Responders say the kayakers were able to swim to a nearby island, escaping uninjured.
Rescue crews deployed with two Swift Water Rescue Technicians, who were able to bring the victims to safety moments later.
CTFR would like to remind people to use caution in any rain swollen body of water, as currents are much stronger than usual and to always wear a life jacket. As well as remain calm and never try to swim and fight the current while awaiting emergency responders.
