2 NH Macy's-owned stores make list of 28 stores 'most at risk of closing'

MANCHESTER — A list of 28 stores marked as 'most at risk of closing' by a statistical rating organization named the Macy's at the Mall of New Hampshire and a Bloomingdale's outlet.

Morningstar Credit Ratings pointed out 28 locations owned by Macy's with reported below-average tenant sales following a statement by the retailer that it planned to close 100 stores next year due to low traffic, reports the Union Leader.

Analysis indicated sales averages were $165 per square foot for the Manchester store and $166 per square foot for the Merrimack Premium Outlet location for Bloomingdale's. The company-wide average in 2014 was reported to be $169 per square foot.

A statement by Macy's said it planned to concentrate resources on better-performing locations.
