2 NH athletes hurt - 1 loses leg - after crashing moped into dump truck

Two New Hampshire athletes are recovering from major injuries after a moped crashed into a dump truck on Martha's Vineyard over the weekend.

Kelly Moran, 19 of Newfields, and Noelle Lambert, 19 of Londonderry, are teammates on the University of Massachusetts Lowell women's lacrosse team. They sustained major leg injuries, according to Seacoastonline..

Lambert lost her leg in the accident. She was flown to Boston hosptial, and Moran underwent surgery on Martha's Vineyard.

Police said the women rented the moped and crashed at about noon. Lambert was driving and lost control before hitting the dump truck. The truck driver wasn't uninjured and has not been cited.

Both are in stable condition.
