2 men arrested in connection to several grams of heroin, cocaine in Manchester

MANCHESTER - While Manchester police continue to tackle the opioid crisis in the Queen City, two more arrests were made during the discovery of several grams of heroin and cocaine.

Tuesday night, police saw a 2011 Land Rover turn onto Merrimack Street from Beech Street without using the correct turn signal. Once pulled over, the driver 34-year-old Joel Wichenbaugh, and passenger 24-year-old Joseph Maloney gave police permission to search the vehicle.

Maloney dropped an unknown item from his left hand as he rested it on the driver’s side headrest, which led police to the discovery of .6 gram bags of illegal drugs. One bag contained heroin and the second contained crack-cocaine.

Maloney was charged with two counts possession of a controlled drug, and one count of falsifying physical evidence and was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday. Wichenbaugh was not charged in the incident.

Police also made a second arrest outside of 579 Kimball St. Tuesday night after getting reports that Kyle Rautenburg, 24 of Concord had allegedly picked up heroin in Lawrence, Mass.

Rautenburg revealed a cigarette pack containing 2.2 grams of heroin, and he was charged with possession of a controlled drug. He was also scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
