2-alarm fire injures 1 in Keene


KEENE - Around 8:25 p.m. Friday night, fire fighters responded to a two-alarm fire in a residential apartment complex in at 5 Oak St. in Keene.

When officials arrived on scene, they said the second floor of a two and a half story residential apartment building was ingulfed in flames and confirmed one adult had been burned.

Fire fighters said some assisted the burn victim get to Cheshire Hospital while secondary crews were assigned to search the building for other occupants and extinguish the fire.

Officials said fire crews searched of all floors and found no other occupants. Crews confirmed that the fire was contained to two rooms in the second floor apartment.

The incident was declared under control at 9:13 p.m., and fire fighters reported that no one else was injured, but a tenant's pet was found dead.

Officials said the cause of the fire has not been determined and is still under investigation.
